Description
The small black cat figurine is an original hand-carved wonder stone display on a round shape slate base. It’s a minimalist carving with a touch of abstract expression, but still a cute one. Wonder stone is often classified as a variety of soapstone, however in my opinion it’s a way different stone specimen. Very fine-grained, and the pure black color which comes out at the polishing phase is perfectly even. It hardly or never has cracks, and is relatively easy to carve.
This black cat figurine is carved by hand with traditional hand tools and polished with standard water base sandpapers to a bright shine. Sealed and buffed with natural nontoxic bee wax. The base stone is black maybe a little silvery Slate that was collected locally and polished as well. The figurine was pinned and stone epoxy glued to the slate base. It’s a new carving, my original idea, and the only one made in this style. Signed and dated.
